DRONA !!!

Okhayyy... So there were like a 100 ways i wished to start this post with but why spoil the suspense. Finally settled to take you guys through the whole chain of events pre-n-post this movie, oh and not to forget through the movie itself.

So after much fightin, debating, pleading and wot not I finally gave in to My guy's decision of watching DRONA over KIDNAP. His starts were too good cos we actually got the tickets, first day last show. Not bad. Seats were good too.. not the corner ones. We prefer to leave 'em to the more coochie-coo couples and prefer a better view from the center seats. Everything was perfect but for one thing... WE WERE SOON TO REGRET OUR DECISION.

The Movie.. dunno how to vent my frustration. Okay lets get started...

THE MOVIE SUCKED.

Both of us, and i suspect even the people around us, were totally clueless bout wot was goin on atleast through the first half an hour. And ABHISHEK BACHCHAN looked equally clueless throughout the movie. Seemed as if he was forced to do the movie and in retaliation went all woody. Another guess for his puppy-faced expression through the movie was- He's forgotten how to act after the long drought period and thought it to be too much of a hard work to make any attempts at remembering.

Priyanka Chopra could be the only saving grace of the movie, delivering a decent performance and more manly stunts than Abhishek. Looking hot and sultry in brocade jackets in which she was expected to do a-la matrix (who wears them anyway), she was more tolerable except when she insisted on narrating her BAUJI tales.

Kay Kay Menon- He's a maverick and super talented and only he could do such a role as his. Infact he's actually good to a great extent but after a while his whole over acting drama and GUSTAAKHI MAAPH routine becomes repetitive and GOTMYNs (Gets on to my nerves) bigtime.

Shilka Kant - Totally pissed to have been made to watch it. Laughing and cribbing at the same time, as her boyfriend apologizes in different ways. Poor guy, he tries so hard to crack lame jokes about equally lame movie and make it a tad bit interesting. Oh he also gets popcorn and nachos that she totally digs.

So, in nutshell....
  • The story reminds me of those hindi comics I used to read as a child & was total drag.
  • The graphics are okayish by world standards. They could have made it much better. I mean the movie 10,000 B.C. was also such a sad affair but atleast the graphics were awe inspiring.
  • The songs were most misplaced I've ever seen in a movie. You just escaped death, you sing. You just met your son, you sing.
  • The acting... Someone wake up Abhishek .
  • Don't even get me started on the music and dance and the extras and the background score and the costumes and........
Watch at your own risk.

P.S. I beg some of you guys to differ from my opinion, because however much I hate Ash, being a woman I wouldn't want another woman to be labelled a jinx. Abhishek Bachchan still has a thriving career.

Ciao!!!

Mindless chants of a numbed mind

Yeah yeah! my last blog must have given a fair idea that i'm a bit hyper sensitive. Jus wnt things to go well. Lets c. But i still love ranting... love love all the way

WOTT THE HELL!!!!

I wish i could claim - i lurrrvvvvvv writting, or better still I LLLLOVVVEEEE blogging, but trust me I hate it. Especially when my blog is all bout movies. I'm totally against such form of social service- watch movies and leave a comment for the benefit of fellow bloggers. Heylo but have you any idea what is the kind of time and effort that goes into it... lemme give ya a realty check

1) movie tickets
: rs. 175x2 = rs. 350
2)Pop corn and coke, mind you the jumbo pack. nothing less would do
: approx rs. 200
3)Commuting charges (variable) depending on how near the end of month I m

: x (50 < x< 500)
4)ummmm misc, could include anything. even a tshirt for my guy dat suddenly caught ma fancy.

AND BLOODY HELL.. THE MINDLESS MOVIES....

Gosh! How badly i wanted to avoid rock on.

Anyway, i know i'm too late. so wouldn't make sense to try to enlighten you guys about the movie. But still wud sure tell ya if it went down well or it caused another break up. ;)

A WEDNESDAY

Yeah one of those low budget movies many of you might not even have heard about. But trust me... a movie worth every penny spent on buying it's tickets. A movie worth every second of your time spent watchin it. And a movie worth all the standing ovation that it received in the end. And to top it all the movie is pretty short, barely 2 hrs. Flawless delivery by seasoned actors... Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah.... and perhaps the elite company also inspired others to give an ace performance. Jimmy Shergill is real good and so are the others. Very tight script, immensely intelligent dialogues delivered with such perfection that not even once would you feel someone trying to force didactic lessons down your throat. Story is not a thriller that would keep you guessing till the end.. I mean if you are as smart as I, trust me you'll know what's going to unfold. But watch it for the performance.
Watch it for the perfection.
And watch it to admire and appreciate the advent of intelligent cinema.

Singh Is Kinng

The movie about Happy Singh is a hit. Apart from making it's cast and crew happier and richer it also proves a point. That Akshay Kumar has the ability to make any garbage look like gold.
Okay, so what's the movie about. Well in nutshell, it's Akshay's response to Shahrukh's Om Shanti Om albeit with a little more plot. Oh but for some reason we did like the latter, maybe its mindlessness, and so chances are high that you could like this one too. The story is already spread like a wild fire so no point giving you more details. All I can say that if you don't mind missing out CCD coffee one evening, go and grab the flick instead. Watch it for
a) Javed Jaffri
b) the guy who plays Pankaj Udhas, dunno his real name.
c) The songs
d) Katrina Kaif (but not her acting please, not that she has acted at all)
Some of the dialogues get repetitive, some of the scenes are unnecessary, like the whole Egypt thing. But all in all, the movie does give you reasons to laugh. Oh and watch Sonu Sood wheelchair stint, especially the "Daaru Sequence"... You'd know what I'm talkin bout once you see the movie. And then we can laugh about it together. CHEERS.... Where are mu Beers???

Jaane Tu... ya Jaane Na

Isn't the movie absolutely adddooooorrrrable and amazing. What a surprise!
And Imraan? Gee... I get too dreamy to even talk bout him and can only bat my eyelids....
Yeah the story was pretty much the girl-meets-boy mush with a "twist". But it had this sweet, naughty and innocent freshness bout it. Acting is good, songs even better and the whole flick is pretty much fun and a good value for money. Go with friends, go with girl friend ( but be prepared for comparisons).
But just go...
Oh but don't if you like your movies serious, logical and with a social message...
Enjoy with your popcorn.

Where's My Popcorn

I wont go so far as to call myself a MOVIE BUFF, let's just say I like Good Movies.
But it's a pain ( and a bit too hard on my pocket ) to watch each and every crap that bollywood churns out every friday and then decide if it was at all worth my time and money. Yeah Yeah, I very well could rely on the newspaper reviews but are they reliable! Oh yes... and have you ever tried reading one Khaled's reviews... I mean what's up with him. Is he a critic or a 'Nobel Prize for literature' Aspirant.

So I thought it would be great if I could share honest, candid, direct from heart reviews about the most anticipated movies of the week (and also the surprise packages that aren't so anticipated but end up hogging all the limelight).

So feel free to share, suggest, recommend, warn against and vote for movies...

Let's get the action started... hey but wait....

WHERE'S MY POPCORN
